“Hi, I’m Anna-Marie Holme, and in July I had the privilege of going on a trip to Canada with North West England Girlguiding. After being selected at a county event, I had £2200 to raise in just under a year to fund the trip. On the trip I spent one week at a Canadian Guide camp and then a few days sightseeing in Toronto. It was incredible experience being able to meet new people and see all the sights! Receiving a grant from the St Bridget’s Education Trust helped massively towards my fundraising goal.”
The history of the Trust
- St. Bridget’s Educational Trust was founded in the 1880s
- When St. Bridget’s School was the only institution of primary education in the parish, the Trust provided a house for the schoolmaster
- Eventually the Trust invested in another house which was sold in 1986.
- The capital from that sale is now invested and, in recent years, produced an annual income of approximately £2000!
- The Charity Commission supervises the Trust and allows disbursement of the annual interest.
